Nursing Unit Coordinator

Responsibilities:Essential Functions: Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that are performed with or without reasonable accommodation.Consistently meets or exceeds expectations for a Registered Nurse including the use of Nursing Process to assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement and evaluate nursing care; evidence&dash;based practice; patient&dash;centered care; education for patients and families; administration of medications; collaboration with the health care team, productivity and effective resources utilization; participation in Shared Governance; support of a learning environment; and professional development.Collaborates with the Charge Nurse regarding patient care assignments.Functions as a consultant for unit nursing staff and a liaison for interdisciplinary team members.Coordinates staff scheduling.Partners with the Nurse Manager to lead performance improvement initiatives, ensure patient and staff safety, and resolve any patient or unit issues.Plans and or participates in the orientation of new personnel.Provides direction to students and faculty.Plans, develops and provides unit education in conjunction with the Nurse Manager.Participates in performance evaluation by providing feedback to the Nurse Manager.Non&dash;Essential Functions:Duties the employee may perform that are not essential as defined in the job description.Participates in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise develops.Will perform other duties as assignedEducation/ExperienceMinimum Required:A graduate of an accredited school of NursingPreferred:Bachelor's of Science in NursingTwo (2) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse experience in an acute care or ambulatory settingPrevious Charge Nurse experienceLicense/CertificationMinimum Required:Current New York State Registered Nurse LicenseCPR certification within 3 months of hireACLS within one year of hirePreferred:Professional certification in a related nursing specialtyPALSWork EnvironmentWork is performed in an office environment and patient care areas which require working in proximity to other employees and patients. Rooms are air conditioned and heated.Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting.Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants.PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies.Age of Patients ServedAll Age GroupsHIPAA Roles&dash;Based Access to Patient InformationClinical &dash; Access to patient information that is not restricted (an example of restricted information is ARU) &dash; Level 3Staff SupervisedNot Applicable
