Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and components for highly engineered products. The ideal candidate will have experience working cross-functionally with engineering, production, and suppliers to ensure quality, efficiency, and continuity of supply.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the procurement of raw materials, components, and services to support production and operational needs
Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to understand specifications, timelines, and requirements
Evaluate, select, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors
Verify supplier capabilities, performance, and adherence to quality standards
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to optimize cost and performance
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing activities to avoid shortages or excess
Ensure suppliers meet technical and engineering requirements for highly engineered products
Track and resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or discrepancies
Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing data, and supplier information
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing or engineered products environment
Experience working cross-functionally with engineering and production teams
Strong understanding of technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes
Proven ability to evaluate and manage supplier performance
Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
Experience sourcing for complex or custom-engineered components
Background in industries such as aerospace, automotive, industrial equipment, or advanced manufacturing
Knowledge of quality systems and supplier audits
