Position SummaryThe Orthopedic Radiologic Technologist supports orthopedic surgeons by providing high-quality intraoperative and diagnostic imaging in an ambulatory surgery center setting. This role focuses on C‑arm fluoroscopy and orthopedic-specific imaging to assist with outpatient musculoskeletal procedures while ensuring patient safety, image accuracy, and efficient OR flow.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate mobile C‑arm fluoroscopy equipment during orthopedic surgical procedures, including but not limited to: ArthroscopyFracture reductionsJoint injectionsHardware placement (plates, screws, pins, rods)Spine, extremity, and sports medicine proceduresPosition patients accurately for optimal imaging of extremities, joints, and spineCollaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiology, and OR staff to provide real-time imaging supportAdjust fluoroscopy angles, magnification, and exposure settings to meet provider needsMaintain strict adherence to radiation safety standards (ALARA), including proper shielding for patients and staffPrepare imaging equipment prior to procedures and ensure proper functionalityCommunicate imaging studies and procedure details accurately to providers and staffFollow sterile technique and infection control protocols in the operating roomVerify imaging orders, patient identity, and procedure site prior to imagingAssist with equipment transport, setup, and patient transfers as neededParticipate in quality assurance activities and routine equipment checksOrthopedic-Specific Skills & ExperienceStrong knowledge of: Skeletal anatomyFracture alignment and hardware visualizationJoint spaces and orthopedic landmarksExperience imaging knees, shoulders, hips, ankles, wrists, elbows, spine, and long bonesAbility to anticipate surgeon needs during orthopedic proceduresComfort working in lead for extended proceduresFamiliarity with orthopedic instrumentation and implants (preferred)QualificationsAssociate’s degree or Certificate in Radiologic Technology from an accredited programARRT certification requiredCurrent state radiologic technologist license (as applicable)BLS/CPR certification requiredPrior experience in orthopedics, surgery, ASC, or operating room strongly preferredFluoroscopy permit (if required by state)Skills & CompetenciesExcellent attention to detail and image qualityStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced OR settingProfessional, patient-centered demeanorPhysical ability to: Stand for extended periodsAssist with patient positioningWear lead aprons during proceduresWork Environment & ScheduleOrthopedic ambulatory surgery centerOperating room / procedural environmentTypically, daytime hours, Monday–FridayNo weekends, holidays, or on‑call
