Performs work providing customer service to the public, attorneys and court staff, processing court documents and files. Supports courtroom proceedings and ensures the integrity and accuracy of official court documents. Duties may vary based on training, experience, and departmental needs. Performs related duties as assigned.The Deputy Clerk I position is an entry level position. Upon successful completion of the training period, individuals in this classification are eligible for a non-competitive promotion to the Deputy Clerk II position.Essential FunctionsAs defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only)Provide professional customer service in person, by phone, and by emailProcess and file court documents in compliance with Arizona statutes and court rulesHandle payments, receipts, and daily reconciliations in accordance with Minimum Accounting StandardsMaintain accurate digital and physical case filesPrepare and issue certified copies, orders, and other court documentsSupport courtroom operations by attending hearings, recording minutes, managing exhibits, and operating equipmentEnter and verify data in electronic case management systemsAssist with jury operations, including data entry and juror check-inWork collaboratively with judges, attorneys, and staff to ensure accurate case processingMaintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactionsMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent, and two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative experience (court or legal experience preferred). An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by County insurance.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to individuals who read, write, and speak Spanish.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of office and clerical practices, court operations, and basic accountingStrong attention to detail and accuracyExcellent communication and customer service skillsProficiency with computers and data entryAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentCommitment to teamwork, integrity, and public serviceWORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is primarily performed under direct supervision in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls.
