Culinary Adjunct Faculty - Onondaga Community College

Job Description Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY, is accepting applications for an adjunct chef instructor in our Culinary Management program to teach an advanced culinary skills course. This course focuses on introducing advanced culinary techniques and methods. This advanced culinary course will consist of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on work by students. In each class session students will be introduced to a topic and have the opportunity to practice and refine their skills in production of American and international cuisines, advanced culinary presentation techniques, and fundamentals in garde manger. The adjunct instructor is responsible for demonstrations, lecturing, compiling tests, and assessing student performance relative to standardized learning objectives. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree in culinary arts from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency. At least 5 years of professional culinary experience AND/OR at least 5 years prior experience as a supervisor training employees. Certified ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certificate. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Prior college-level culinary teaching experience. B.S. in Culinary Arts from an accredited academic institution or foreign equivalency. Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered. Additional Information Anticipated Hours: This course runs 2nd 1/2 semester 3/23/26-5/6/26 3:30pm-7:30pm. Applicants must attach an unofficial transcript for the highest degree received. Prior to teaching, the successful applicant must provide an official transcript of the highest degree received. Adjunct rate of pay for the 25/26 academic year is $1,483/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment. Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
