Accountant

Nucor Skyline Steel LLC is hiring an Accountant in Newton, IL, responsible for supporting financial reporting, analysis, and internal controls in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, 2+ years of experience, and strong data analysis and Excel skills. We offer: • Base salary starting at $63,000 plus performance bonus (~$6,300) and profit sharing (~$6,900) for total starting compensation around $76,535 • Medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance along with 401(k) and Roth options • Paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, stock program, and scholarship opportunities Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related financial field with 2+ years of relevant experience • Strong data analysis capabilities with advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office • Understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls; ability to support audits and compliance processes • Experience in manufacturing environments and ERP systems preferred; CPA, CMA, or Master’s degree a plus • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to collaborate across teams • Willingness to travel occasionally and commitment to maintaining safety standards in all activities Job Duties: • Assist with month-end close processes including journal entries and financial statement preparation • Ensure financial reporting accuracy and compliance with company policies and GAAP standards • Maintain and improve internal control structures and support audit readiness • Perform inventory reserve analysis, cost analysis, and variance reporting to support business decisions • Analyze raw material costs, sales, and expenditures while contributing to forecasting and budgeting activities • Support annual physical inventory, capital expenditure tracking, and financial reporting initiatives • Communicate financial insights and reports to business partners and leadership across the organization Nucor is North America’s largest steel and steel products manufacturer and the continent’s largest recycler, known for its sustainability leadership and performance-driven culture.
