Senior Accountant
On-site | Full-Time | U.S. Work Authorization RequiredPosition SummaryThe Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting operations of the organization, including the preparation of financial statements, management of excise tax reporting, account reconciliations, and oversight of accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. This role also plays a key part in pricing and cost analysis and supports the implementation and optimization of the company’s ERP system. The Senior Accountant ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).Position ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation, and perform other duties as assigned. Prepares and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Manages and files excise tax reports accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. Performs detailed account reconciliations, investigates discrepancies, and ensures timely resolution. Oversees accounts receivable and accounts payable processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to internal controls. Reviews pricing structures and conducts cost analysis to support profitability and strategic decision-making. Assists in the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s ERP system, including data integrity and process optimization. Supports month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting. Maintains and improves internal controls and accounting procedures to enhance accuracy and mitigate risk. Collaborates cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership to provide financial insights and support business initiatives. Assist with audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries. Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports for management as needed. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations. Protect operations by keeping financial information confidential. Participates in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the accounting function. Meets all Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements; participate in food safety meetings as required. Cultivates and promotes a strong safety culture and follows all safety policies, procedures and regulations; identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions; participate in safety meetings as required. Note: This job description is not exhaustive and may evolve over time.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (or combination of education and relevant experience). Three (3) plus years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Experience with account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and financial statement preparation. Hands-on experience managing or supporting A/R and A/P functions. Experience with excise tax reporting or similar regulatory tax filings. Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred QualificationsCPA certification or progress toward certification preferred. Experience with ERP system implementation or upgrades. Prior experience in cost accounting and pricing analysis. Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., food & beverage, manufacturing, or alcohol production). Work ExpectationsThis is a regular, full-time position with daily office hours onsite. The ability to be available for work daily and extended hours as necessary.
