ABOUT THIS POSITIONThe Aviation Department manages and operates the Phoenix Airport System which consists of Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX), Deer Valley (DVT), and Goodyear (GYR) airports (Airports). PHX is among the busiest airports in the United States and the largest airport in the Phoenix Airport System. In 2025, over 50 million passengers traveled through PHX, underscoring the airport's scale and operational complexity. The Phoenix Airport System serves more than 125,000 passengers daily, supports over 1,200 flights per day, and generates an estimated $44 billion in total economic impact annually.The Aviation Department has a vacancy for a Budget Analyst II position. This position performs advanced professional fiscal analysis research and reporting in support of the preparation and administration of the Aviation Department's annual operating budget.Duties also include:Review base budget requests, recommend funding levels, and prepare clear, detailed explanations of budget changes.Assists with and participates in department's budgetary process.Evaluate budget estimates for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures and regulations.Coordinates the preparation of the detail budget documents with staff, divisions, and other departments.Provides guidance and technical support in cost analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget development.Prepares budget summary schedules and departmental funding requests.Resolves budget issues for multiple major divisions.Compile and present recommendations regarding approval or denial of funding requests.Reviews financial and budgetary information for Requests for Council Action, contracts, and related documents.Supervise a small accounting team responsible for accounts payable.Using computer skills to prepare and report on budget activity and analysis.Strong leadership skills with experience supervising or coordinating small accounting team.Performing special projects requiring comprehensive analysis.Providing periodic training to department staff on procurement and accounts payable responsibilities.IDEAL CANDIDATEKnowledge of budgetary and financial software and systems.Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.Perform independently using judgment based upon a broader background of experience.SALARYPay Range: $74,796 to $105,248 annually.Hiring Range: $74,796 to $90,916 annually.Pay Range Explanation:* Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.* Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 058.
