Coordinator of Student Services - Elementary

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To coordinate the development and implementation of special education programs with School Principals, as assigned, and the Student Services Leadership Team MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a Virginia Post-Graduate Professional Certificate Must have a Masters in Special Education or Administration/Supervision REPORTS TO: Principal PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILIES: Assist in the coordinating of the homebound instruction program for students in the assigned school Collect and report data on statewide indicators to the Virginia Department of Education as assigned by the Director of Student Services Work collaboratively with private day providers and support case management of services to assigned students Schedule and chair eligibility meetings Ensure that eligibility meetings are held within the required timelines, review records for essential components, issue reminders as necessary, communicate with all members of the eligibility committee Review IEPs, monitor IEP progress, and provide feedback Assist the Director of Student Services in responding to the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and IDEA investigations, develop forms, collect data, analyze and interpret data, develop reports, and ensure that the timeline is adhered to by all parties Develop and submit to the Director of Student Services recommendations for addressing the concerns identified through OCR and IDEA investigations Attend and/or facilitate manifestation hearings as the representative from the Office for Student Services. Assist with maintenance of student records Provide in-service training to staff in areas assigned by principal Implement the regulations addressed in IDEA Attend Student Services meetings and serve as liaison between the school and the Student Services department Assist the principal with the implementation, supervision, and evaluation of specialized academic and behavioral instructional programs for students with disabilities Assume a leadership role in supporting the quality development and implementation of the school’s instructional programs for students with disabilities Assist the principal with specialized recruitment, orientation, training, and supervision of special education teachers and paraprofessionals, and coordinate staff assignments Assist in the development, improvement, and evaluation of courses of study and instructional activities for students with disabilities Assist in the acquisition of supplies and supplementary materials for the instructional programs for students with disabilities Work with the community and provide leadership for special instructional programs Assume responsibility for coordinating specialty programs for students with disabilities, including transportation and other support services for students with disabilities Supervise reporting and monitoring of attendance of students with disabilities, and work with the administrative team for investigative follow-up actions Assume additional duties as assigned by the principal TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month (260 day) contract; Grade 7024 EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Personnel
