As a Hardware Engineer in Research and Development, you will specify, design, and test the devices SEL produces, and support them over the long lifetime of the products in the same facility where they are manufactured.
Responsibilities Analyze, design, and develop conventional analog and digital circuits.
Conduct moderate to complex design reviews to demonstrate product and circuit robustness.
Develop hardware specifications and prepare system‑level specifications.
Write and analyze test plans, execute tests, and evaluate results for use at peer design reviews and project notebooks.
Prepare and maintain product documentation, including data sheets, instruction manuals, project notebooks, design and test documentation.
Provide and maintain accurate project plans.
Manage and/or lead hardware projects of moderate complexity.
Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing.
Qualifications B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Typically 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
Digital and/or Analog Circuit Design
Signal Integrity
SGMII, USB 3.0, PCIE, DisplayPort, LVDS
Point‑of‑Load Supplies
Analog Inputs, Analog Outputs, Digital Inputs, Digital Outputs
Electromagnetic Compatibility
Components and Packaging
Component Derating
Thermal Management
PCB Planning
System Design

Salary Range Associate Hardware Engineer: $84,200 – $124,500 per year
Hardware Engineer: $97,700 – $144,400 per year
Lead Hardware Engineer: $115,300 – $170,400 per year
