What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Sr. Ergonomics Engineer for our EHS Design & Deploy team. You will lead the integration of ergonomics design principles and standards across the full lifecycle of product, equipment, and process development—from initial sourcing through design, build, acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, and production ramp. Partnering with Manufacturing, Design, Process, Facilities, Material Flow, Packaging Engineering teams, and vendors, you will ensure EHS milestones and deliverables are embedded at every phase across new vehicle, energy, solar, Tera, and AI manufacturing programs.
What You'll Do
Own the ergonomics buyoff lifecycle for products, processes, equipment, and facilities, including manufacturing, maintenance, and service operations across Tesla product lines
Identify and assess ergonomic risks in both virtual and physical environments using a comprehensive set of tools and methodologies, such as Digital Human Modeling (3DExperience and CATIA platforms) and Tesla ergonomics design targets
Create clear, actionable ergonomics risk assessment reports and drive risk mitigation by defining acceptance criteria, recommending design improvements, tracking corrective actions, and maintaining thorough documentation at each ergonomic milestone
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and vendors throughout the entire product and equipment development lifecycle to ensure ergonomic concerns are proactively identified, communicated and addressed
Continuously refine and improve ergonomics review and buyoff workflows while developing and updating ergonomics design targets to reflect the latest research, industrial standards, and regulations in support of Tesla’s expanding product and equipment portfolio
Support the development and delivery of Ergonomics training programs and AI-driven initiatives that build ergonomics capabilities across the organization
Manage multiple concurrent projects with strong prioritization, problem-solving, and a proactive mindset—acting as a positive change agent to deliver results under tight timelines
What You'll Bring
Degree in Human Factors Engineering and Ergonomics, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience as an ergonomics and human factors professional, ideally in vehicle manufacturing, advanced process/energy, or semiconductor environments, with hands-on involvement in design reviews, FATs, and SATs
Demonstrated proficiency with ergonomics assessment tools and methodologies, including Digital Human Modeling on 3DExperience and CATIA, NIOSH Lifting Equation, Snook Tables, Strain Index, REBA, RULA, NASA TLX, and Energy Expenditure etc.
Proven track record of conducting ergonomic risk assessments, producing clear assessment reports, and driving effective problem-solving through cross-functional collaboration, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure while managing competing priorities and deadlines
Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) certification through the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE) preferred
