Project Manager (BESS Projects)

Role: Project Manager - BESS Projects W2 Contract: 12 Months (Likely Extension) Location: Hybrid in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 601813 days in-office at 3 Lincoln Center, Oakbrook Terrace, IL2 days remote/occasional field visits• This is a typical Monday – Friday, eight hour per day position.Client: ComEDOverview & ResponsibilitiesJoin a leading energy utility managing high-impact infrastructure projects. This role oversees the completion of two primary Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects before transitioning into broader utility infrastructure and advanced power quality metering initiatives.Key Responsibilities:o Drive full lifecycle project management ("cradle-to-grave") for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) build-outs.o Oversee accompanying site infrastructure development, including overhead pole adjustments, fiber additions, underground boring, and cabinet/cable installations.o Manage project procurement and administrative milestones, including RFPs, change orders (COCs), and budget tracking.o Coordinate third-party engineering, testing, and commissioning contractors to ensure technical execution.o Facilitate regular stakeholder alignment through scheduled field site visits and team reviews.Required Qualifications:o 5+ years of Project Management experience within an electric utility setting.o Proven track record as a Project Manager delivering end-to-end build-out projects.o Hands-on experience managing project administration, including RFPs, scope change orders, and vendor deliverables.o Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary field construction work (e.g., civil, electrical, line work, fiber integration).o Bachelor's degree or relevant experience is requiredPreferred Qualifications:o PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification.o Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.o Advanced proficiency in Smartsheet and Power BI.
