Job DescriptionThe manager is accountable and responsible 24 hours a day for managing and demonstrating leadership skills in the systems management of practice and/or operation issues. These activities should ensure appropriate outcomes and efficient, effective, team processes guiding activities of the area including, but not limited to, the staff, environment, and patients. ResponsibilitiesProvides essential management functions to assure effective day-to-day operations Budgets within parametersMonitors and adjusts staffing as appropriateConducts interviews, hires, and terminates staff in collaboration with Human ResourcesAudits time and attendanceMonitors inventory and par levelsMonitors staff/department to ensure compliance with MHG policies/procedures, regulatory, and accreditation agenciesFacilitates the development and implementation of team processes Encourages involvement and equal work distributionCoaches team members in accountability and leads the team toward improvementEmpowers the staff to make clinical and process decisionsInteracts with all shiftsPerformance appraisal process is completed per policyMentors staff through performance feedback processes Acts as a resource and support for staff in developing conflict-management, delegation, and communication skillsCounsels staff and completes disciplinary actions as appropriateMoves the team to quality outcomes through shared planning, voluntary expression, and acceptance of members as valued individualsResponsible for own practice within legal, ethical, and professional boundaries Maintains current licenseMaintains expertise in the areaSuccessful completion of probation and annual skills/competency requirementsServes as a role model by demonstrating positive team-based behaviorsShows commitment to personal professional growth through the pursuit of advanced knowledge and skillsParticipates in performance-improvement activitiesRegular and timely attendance is required for this positionPerformance of duties will be in compliance with all laws and regulations governing healthcare organizationsParticipates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes, and customer satisfication Participates in the long-range planning for the area by facilitating development and achievement of goals and objectivesParticipates in financial planning for the areaPerforms analysis of operational expenses and makes recommendations for improvementMonitors Performance Improvement/CQI reports and customer satisfaction reports for compliance, and takes appropriate actionAssures compliance with regulatory and accreditation agenciesCommunicates operational issues clearly and effectively within the team and outside the team as appropriateSafeguards confidential informationPerforms other related duties as assigned or requested Contributes to the daily operation of the division/department by performing other roles as neededCompletes special duties/projects as assignedQualificationsEducation: Required: Bachelor's Degree Graduate of an accredited program with minimum of a Baccalaureate degreePreferred: Master's Degree College courses in management and organizational behaviorLicensure/Certification: Required: License Current MS license as required for profession or temporary permit (valid for 90 days) for sameExperience: Four (4) years experience in the specified clinical area or specified operational experience Knowledge: Competency in team building skills with accountability to the teamDecisiveness when needed, integrity, responsibility, and accountabilityFair and rational Skills: Good written and communication skills Abilities: Ability to effect change by assuming leadership roles in interdisciplinary teams and supporting the growth and development of team membersAbility to communicate and collaborate with physicians, staff, and community to meet the patient needs for the area of management Working Environment: Exposure to chemicals which may be used in patient care Physical Demands: Ability to communicate with hospital staff and the public. Sufficient mobility to move about the the hospital. Manual dexterity to process information. Position may require long hours
