INEOS KOH is a leading producer of potassium-based chemicals in North America and a strategically located producer of chlorine. It safely and efficiently produces these by the membrane process: KCl salt is electrolytically converted to KOH and Cl2 by the application of electricity in INEOS membrane electrolysers. The site employs about 100 people mostly located at the site in Ashtabula, Ohio while some leadership & support functions are based out of the INEOS Enterprises office in Columbus, Ohio.The Process Engineer is a member of the engineering team who will focus on delivery of plant improvements and projects, and will provide technical expertise, problem solving, and solution implementation across the site.The jobholder will provide technical support and problem-solving skills to the plant team on manufacturing issues affecting SHE, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations.Specifically, the jobholder focuses on the following functional accountabilities:SHE: Participate in SHE reviews (e.g. Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, Management of Change, Process Hazard Analyses, etc.). Report incidents, near misses, and hazard identifications, and lead investigations onsite with appropriate conclusions and sustainable actions. Maintain knowledge of INEOS safety rules and ensure all personnel follow them. Ensure workplace practices are in conformity with established guidelines (IGGN). Promote the INEOS 20 Principles Process Optimization: Resolve day-to-day technical issues involved in operating the plant and communicate these solutions to others for execution. Write and/or review operating procedures and provide appropriate training.Train plant personnel on existing and new processes.Provide problem-solving support to the operations and maintenance teams. Facilitate and own process areas, production, and quality technical issues by identifying and recommending solutions and improvement opportunities.Provide engineering assistance and expertise to Operations and Maintenance as needed. Determine optimal operating conditions for the plant to achieve a safe operation, which meets the production plan and produces a quality product at minimum cost.Responsible for defining and maintaining the operating envelopes.Projects:Plan, coordinate, and monitor internal projects from inception through completion.Coordinate and direct activities of fixed duration to ensure that the goals and objectives are accomplished within the determined timeframe and budget.Monitor project progress, assess issues, and recommend resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.Prepare and present one-pagers to review assigned Capex projects.Review status of projects and budgets.Coordinate the operational aspects of assigned projects.Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and contractors for support in the development and implementation of these projects.Determine the feasibility of proposed projects and recommend the structural, mechanical, electrical, operational, and/or other requirements for management approval.Evaluate vendor proposals and designs, and exercise effective judgment around functionality, cost, and timing.Develop supporting project and process documentation and reports.Supervise the installation of all Engineering projects pursuant to project requirements.Coordinate and review contractor and vendor activity and interface with maintenance and production personnel as required ensuring all Company standards are maintained.Leverage and manage plant functional resources to successfully deliver project results.Level of Education and Experience in generalA Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline Minimum 2 years manufacturing experience, ideally in a chemical manufacturing facility.Technical skillsProven ability to analyze complex technical issues to the fundamental level and propose practical solutions. Experience in driving continuous improvements and working within process industries.Competent in the use of Microsoft software and the ability to develop competency in the use of additional software applications as required.
