Deck Electrician

Deck Electrician Hutco, Inc. is seeking experienced Deck Electricians to support shipbuilding and repair operations in Newport News, Virginia. This role involves installing, maintaining, and testing shipboard electrical systems in accordance with technical drawings, specifications, and safety standards. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial, marine, or commercial nuclear electrical work and be capable of working in physically demanding shipyard environments. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Read and interpret shipboard electrical drawings, schematics, wiring tables, and work packages Perform general deck electrician duties, including: Layout and mounting of electrical equipment and wireways Installation of cable penetrations in bulkheads, decks, and equipment Cable installation and terminations Cut-in and hook-up of electrical systems Use electrical testing equipment such as: Volt-ohm meters Clamp-on ammeters Insulation resistance testers (megger) Work independently with minimal supervision Utilize electrician hand tools (pliers, wrenches, crimpers, sockets, etc.) Perform work in confined spaces, at heights, and in challenging shipyard conditions Successfully complete Stud Shooting Training and Vision Test (NNS requirement) Requirements: Experience: Minimum 3 years of electrical experience in: Marine Industrial Commercial Nuclear Technical Skills: Strong blueprint and schematic reading ability Proficiency with electrical tools and testing instruments Knowledge of shipboard electrical installation practices Physical Requirements: Ability to: Climb ladders and stairs (vertical and inclined) Crawl, bend, and stoop Work at heights and in confined spaces Must be able to perform physically demanding labor in varying environmental conditions Benefits: A limited benefit plan is available to Hutco Inc. employees through Essential Staff Care.
