Details Work setting is an acute care hospital with 207 licensed beds, designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center Assigned to the 3N Medical Telemetry (Renal) Unit, a 31-bed floor Patient population includes end-stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis (PD), fluid overload, sickle cell, diabetes mellitus, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health diagnoses RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6, with critical surge ratios up to 1:7-8 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week Every other weekend rotation required No on-call or call-back requirements Floating is required to all units within scope at the home facility, as well as to other facilities within the assigned regional division — candidates who are not willing to float to regional facilities should not apply EMR is Epic; Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors are used on the unit Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT and Dobhoff placement, PEG tube care, drain/tube management (Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, Foley), PCA pumps, and medication drip management (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IVF) Requirements Active NC RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Candidate's permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Unit support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team (11 AM-7 PM and 11 PM-7 AM), respiratory therapy (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist coverage Orientation consists of a new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation Scheduling is on a 6-week cycle Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract Scrub color is navy Parking is free First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered Candidates who have previously held a permanent position with an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible American Traveler Job ID P-684831.
