The team supports clients through field investigations, technical reporting, permitting coordination, and environmental planning across a wide variety of landscapes and project types.The OpportunityTheWetland & Environmental Services Specialistis an entry-level professional role focused on wetland delineation and environmental field support. This position works in both field and office settings collecting data, assisting with mapping and reporting, and supporting a variety of natural resource projects.You'll work alongside experienced ecologists and environmental professionals while building practical skills in wetland delineation, plant identification, GIS, technical reporting, and field data collection. Success in this role comes from strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in changing field conditions.What You Will DoConduct wetland delineations and field investigations under the guidance of senior staff
Collect field data related to soils, vegetation, hydrology, and site conditions
Apply wetland delineation protocols using the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual and regional supplements
Assist with additional natural resource field surveys including wetlands, streams, vegetation, tree inventories, and habitat assessments
Use GPS equipment and mobile data collection tools to record field locations and attributes
Enter, organize, and review field data for accuracy and completeness
Use ArcGIS tools to map field data, create figures, and support reporting needs
Assist with preparation of wetland delineation reports, maps, tables, and supporting documentation
Support permitting documentation efforts for local, state, and federal agencies
Maintain organized digital records for field notes, photographs, GPS data, and GIS layers
Coordinate with project leads regarding schedules, site conditions, and field updates
Assist with field preparation, equipment organization, and project logistics
What You Will Need To Be SuccessfulBachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Soil Science, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field
Experience or exposure to wetland delineations using the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual and applicable regional supplements
A Wetland Professional In Training certification or willingness to pursue it within 6 months of hire.
Interest in developing skills in wetland delineation, GIS, plant identification, and environmental consulting
Prior experience conducting wetland delineations in Minnesota preferred.
Demonstrated plant identification skills and willingness to continue learning
Familiarity with GPS equipment and ESRI products used for field data collection
Basic proficiency in ArcGIS or ArcMap for mapping and data visualization
Strong organization and attention to detail in both field and office work
Technical writing skills sufficient to support reporting and documentation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsThe pay range for this role is:30 - 31 USD per hour (KES Office)
