Job DescriptionGeneral Repair Technician (Handyman)NATURE OF WORKThe General Repair Technician/Handyman (GRT) reports to the Senior Director of operations. Responsible for basic repair orders and preventative maintenance of existing contracted units as well as emergency calls or one time specialty estimates. Perform repairs and PM work as requested on customer buildings or Encompass company equipment. Position may be a route assignment utilizing company vehicle or could report to a customer location.Key ResponsibilitiesDaily management of work orders issued by customer or Encompass. Ensure truck is stocked and fueled and ready for daily use. Purchase parts for the completion of daily work orders.Close all work orders at the time of job completion in the system.Check in with client at the beginning and end of each job. Ensure sign off for each completed work order by the client.Confirm any change orders with manager or home office before completing jobResponsible for responding to all radio calls and cell phone requests from home office in a timely manner.Work with Dispatch Manager on development plan to improve skillsWorking with repairs, patching prepping and painting of wallsTroubleshooting, replacing ballasts, light bulbs, power plugsWorking with plumbing, repair of leaking faucets, repair or replace toilets, unclog toilets.Working with carpentry, repair of walls, rails, steps, doors and windowsWorking with floors, remove and replace tile floor, remove and replace carpetsWorking exterior of facility under hot temperaturesWorking with pressure washerWorking with multiple hand and power toolsKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesAbility to handle multiple projects and make decisionsHolds necessary/required licensesKnowledge and understanding of blueprintsStrong customer service, communication and computer skillsExperience working in Hospital environment a plusKnowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning machinery and componentsMust possess a sense of ownership and pride in one’s work along with a service-oriented approachAble to work independently and take initiative when necessary as well as capable of working as a member of a team and in conjunction with other tradesMust observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices, perform work in accordance with recognized trade and Encompass Onsite Services standardsMust be quality focused, customer service oriented and able to routinely communicate with peers and customers, clearly and professionallyMust possess a high degree of honesty and integrityMinimum RequirementsMust have high school diploma or equivalent GED6 months of trade related experience or background in commercial repair work, Including Floorcare experience.
