The California Post is seeking a seasoned, San Francisco-based, Silicon Valley Correspondent with a proven track record of breaking exclusive stories to join the Page Six Hollywood team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in the cross-section of the tech sector, big money, and society news, with an extensive network of industry contacts. This role demands creativity, initiative and the ability to deliver high-profile, exclusive content on a daily basis.The correspondent will possess a deep understanding of the people behind the power in Silicon Valley. From the personalities and shifting power dynamics to the unique social culture that defines the city. This is a role for a journalist who wants to transcend traditional business reporting and capture the characters, influence and cultural moments shaping the modern tech world. Application Instructions: Applicants should submit a cover letter and work samples or portfolio link.Responsibilities: Regularly obtain exclusives and write daily breaking stories in the world of tech, but focusing on society and trends, as opposed to straight business coverageDevelop and pitch innovative story ideas that capture the interest of our audience and set us apart from competitorsCultivate and maintain relationships with sources and repsConduct interviews with major players in the tech sectorRepresent The California Post at meetings and industry eventsThink strategically about the daily news cycle and contribute to ongoing coverage of trending storiesBe an independent worker, a self-starter and able to think quickly on their feetExpert in using traffic analytics to help guide coverage and determine successesAbility to work with video, photo, and other departments seamlessly to better enhance daily news coverageQualifications: 10+ years of experience working in a major breaking news organizationProven ability to break news and garner noteworthy exclusives in the tech world, focusing on big money, society and trendsExtensive knowledge of tech movers and shakers with a robust network of contacts and sourcesExpertise in obtaining and interpreting court documents and following legal proceedingsExceptional writing and reporting skills with a strong ability to create engaging and accurate content under tight deadlinesOn-camera experience and proficiency in conducting interviewsComfortable multitasking and working in a fast-paced online news environmentAbility to work a full-time, Monday-Friday schedule with flexibility in covering live events and working outside traditional business hours when needed.Note: This role will be expected to be based remotely in San Francisco.
