Assistant Produce Manager
Position SummaryThe Assistant Produce Manager supports the Produce Manager in overseeing daily Produce department operations, team leadership, food safety compliance, and merchandising execution. This role helps ensure high standards for freshness, quality, presentation, and customer service while driving sales and controlling shrink.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with daily Produce department operations, including stocking, rotation, culling, and display executionSupport supervision, training, and development of Produce associatesEnsure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and handling standardsAssist with ordering, receiving, inventory accuracy, and production planningHelp control shrink through proper rotation, culling, markdown execution, and damage controlMaintain strong visual merchandising standards, including wet rack and seasonal displaysMonitor product quality, freshness, and presentation throughout the daySupport scheduling, task delegation, and workload coverage to meet business needsProvide excellent customer service, including product knowledge and handling special requestsMaintain clean, organized prep areas, backrooms, and display casesCommunicate department conditions, performance, and opportunities to store and department leadershipUphold safety standards and participate in store‑wide safety and loss prevention initiativesQualificationsPrevious Produce or fresh food retail experience requiredPrior leadership, lead, or supervisory experience preferredKnowledge of produce handling, rotation, and food safety standardsStrong organizational, time‑management, and communication skillsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periodsAbility to work in refrigerated and wet environmentsFlexibility to work varying shifts, including mornings, weekends, and holidaysCore CompetenciesFreshness and quality controlOperational executionTeam leadership and accountabilityFood safety and complianceCustomer service excellence
