Job Title: Ocean Export SupervisorLocation: Chicago, IlSchedule: On-site, Monday through FridayPosition Summary:We are seeking an experienced and motivated Ocean Export Supervisor to lead daily export operations for our Itasca, Illinois office. This role is responsible for overseeing a small team, ensuring timely and compliant shipment processing, and driving continuous improvement of operational processes and workflows. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering excellent customer service while fostering a collaborative team environment.Key Responsibilities:Supervise and support a small ocean export operations team to ensure efficient daily execution of shipmentsOversee the full ocean export process, including booking, documentation, customs compliance, and carrier coordinationMonitor shipment status and proactively resolve service or operational issuesEnsure all export activities comply with international shipping regulations, company policies, and customer requirementsMaintain strong relationships with customers, steamship lines, trucking companies, freight partners, and internal departmentsLead continuous development and improvement of operational processes, workflows, and standard operating proceduresIdentify opportunities to improve productivity, accuracy, communication, and overall service performanceTrain, mentor, and develop team members to support professional growth and operational excellenceAssist with workload balancing, scheduling, and performance management within the departmentReview and approve export documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, AES filings, and shipping instructionsSupport KPI tracking and reporting to ensure departmental goals and service standards are achievedCollaborate with management on strategic initiatives and operational enhancementsQualifications:Minimum 5 years of experience in ocean export freight forwarding or logistics operationsPrevious supervisory or team lead experience preferredStrong understanding of ocean export documentation, compliance requirements, and international shipping proceduresExperience working with freight forwarding systems and transportation management softwareExcellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong leadership skills with a focus on team development and accountabilityProficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and OutlookWork Environment:Fully on-site position located in Itasca, IllinoisStandard Monday through Friday business scheduleCollaborative and team-oriented office environmentOpportunity to contribute to operational growth and continuous improvement initiativesBenefits:Competitive salaryHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and holidays401KStrong Career development and advancement opportunities
