This role reports to the Marketing & Communications Director and is responsible for producing high-quality, on-brand creative assets and digital content that support Midtown’s campaigns, programs, and public-facing communications.This position plays a critical role in delivering consistent, timely, and visually compelling marketing assets across social media, email, web, and advertising channels. The role requires creativity, strong attention to detail, and an understanding of digital trends, tools, and storytelling strategies to help position Midtown Houston as a vibrant, connected, and thriving urban district.As a Creative Marketing Specialist, you will:Creative & Campaign Asset ProductionDesign and produce Midtown-branded marketing materials including Midtown’s programming and event promotions, campaign assets, flyers, social graphics, and digital adsDevelop multi-size asset packages for integrated campaigns (social, web, email, and digital placements)Maintain visual brand consistency across all platforms Create light motion graphics and simple animations as neededSocial Media Content ProductionProduce and package social media content including graphics, captions, story sequences, and short-form videoCapture, edit, and develop photo and video content for social media, including Reels and other platform-native formatsSupport execution of monthly social media calendars based on director-approved strategyEnsure content is optimized for engagement across platformsEmail & Newsletter DevelopmentBuild and maintain newsletter templates aligned with Midtown brandingFormat and prepare newsletters using director-provided content & copySupport scheduling and distribution of recurring email campaignsDigital Advertising SupportDevelop creative assets for paid campaigns (display ads, social ads, campaign visuals)Assist with ad setup, execution, and ongoing optimization in collaboration with the DirectorWebsite ManagementManage website updates and visual contentExecute website change requests and content updates from Midtown StaffUpload and maintain website graphics, landing page assets, and page content elements (banners, tiles, and promotional sections)Photo & Video SupportCapture or coordinate photography and video content for events, programs, and campaignsMaintain organized digital asset libraries for internal useInternal Creative OperationsExecute assigned creative and marketing deliverables based on priorities and timelines set by the Marketing & Communications DirectorMaintain organized files, templates, and asset systemsCollaborate with internal teams to translate initiatives into visual contentFollow Midtown’s internal workflow: Director sets direction based on strategy → Specialist collaborates with Director to develop content and creative → Director reviews, provides edits and feedback → Director gives final approval → Specialist executes approved materialsScope of Work:The Creative Marketing Specialist serves as Midtown’s in-house creative production lead, responsible for executing day-to-day marketing deliverables including:Digital graphicsCampaign assetsSocial media content productionNewsletter templatesPaid advertising creative and executionWebsite management and change requestsWeb visualsPhoto and video support & execution Required Qualifications:Job Type: Full-time employmentFormal Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, or a related field with a focus on visual content creation, digital media, or communications.Required Experience: Minimum of two years of practical experience in public relations, digital marketing, content marketing, advertising, or related field.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Proficiency in digital marketing and creative tools, including Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, social media management platforms, and scheduling tools such as HootsuiteStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling content for diverse audiencesKnowledge of SEO/SEM practices and ability to support campaigns that drive visibility and engagementAbility to align marketing deliverables with organizational goals, campaign priorities, and brand standardsCompetencies:Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skillsExcellent verbal communication skillsDetail-orientedAbility to present ideas and information clearlyStrong relationship-building skills and ability to maintain themCreativity and willingness to experiment with new trends and technologyReliable and self-starterPreferred Qualifications:Experience working with public-sector, nonprofit, or place-based organizationsFamiliarity with digital analytics (social media and email performance)Strong photography, videography, and editing experience, with the ability to produce polished visual content for digital platformsExperience supporting marketing or communications efforts within a district, municipal, or community-focused organizationCore Skills & Traits:Production-focused with consistent, high-quality outputStrong visual and brand awarenessDetail-oriented with a strong quality control mindsetCollaborative and responsive across teamsAble to translate real-time programs and initiatives into engaging contentOrganized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
