Mechanic III - Maintenance

OverviewThe Level IV (E4) maintenance role represents senior technical expertise and leadership within the Maintenance job family. Responsibilities include advanced troubleshooting, complex repairs, welding and fabrication, crane maintenance, and mentoring junior mechanics. Mechanic Lead additionally manages team performance and training programs.ResponsibilitiesFueling, inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs.Complex mechanical repairs (hydraulic, pneumatic, brakes, hubs, drive/steer assemblies).Advanced troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, electronic, PLC, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Use diagnostic tools and software (Cummins, Volvo, PLC systems). Advanced Troubleshooting & Technical Expertise:Perform PLC programming and troubleshooting. Interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for complex repairs.Diagnose root causes and recommend system improvements.Restore equipment to OEM specifications and operational standards.Leadership (Mechanic Lead):Run training classes and lead other mechanics in executing repairs.Mentor junior mechanics and provide technical guidance.Assign work orders and monitor progress for quality and efficiency.Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations teams regarding equipment status.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.Minimum 3-5 years of experience in crane or heavy equipment maintenance.Advanced knowledge of electrical/electronic systems, PLC programming, and diagnostics.Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical drawings.Familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability standards.TWIC card required or ability to obtain.Ability to read, write, and speak English; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
