Accounting Specialist (Austin)

Position SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist with a strong focus on credit and collections to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing customer accounts, driving collections activity, resolving payment discrepancies, and maintaining positive client relationships. The position is approximately 80% collections and 20% account management and requires strong communication, analytical, and Excel skills.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform outbound collections activities through phone calls and email communicationMonitor aging reports and follow up on past-due accounts to ensure timely paymentReconcile customer accounts and investigate payment discrepanciesResolve credit issues, billing disputes, deductions, and unapplied cashRespond to customer inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account statusMaintain accurate account notes and collection recordsPartner with internal teams including Sales, Customer Service, and Accounting to resolve account issuesAssist with evaluating customer credit and maintaining accurate customer account informationPrepare and maintain reporting related to collections and account activitySupport month-end close activities related to accounts receivable as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required2+ years of experience in credit, collections, accounts receivable, or related accounting functions preferredStrong understanding of accounts receivable and reconciliation processesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritiesProficiency in Microsoft Excel, including: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas and data analysis functionsExperience with ERP systems or accounting software preferredPreferred SkillsProfessional and customer-service-oriented communication styleStrong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilitiesAbility to work independently in a fast-paced environmentHigh attention to detail and accuracyAddison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
