If you are caring, resourceful, outcome-oriented and able to build strong relationships, then Latino Network is the place for you.Position DescriptionThe School Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN) program seeks to improve the lives of youth, their families, and the community through partnering with local school communities to extend the school day to improve children’s educational success and family stability. Latino Network manages eight SUN Community Schools where we offer extended day services for students, families, and the school community.Primary Duties And ResponsibilitiesExtended Day Programming:Assist SUN Community Site Manager with daily program operation when neededTeach extended-day enrichment and academic classes at least 2-3 times a weekCover classes Assist with any food pantry distribution as neededTake daily attendance and insert into data system regularlyAssist in creating classes in Grouptrail database system in between programming Effectively work with individuals of diverse backgroundsAssist with outreach on days there are no classes to teach: phone calls home, flyers, enrollment packetsActively develop rapport with students, staff, and familiesProvide a safe and secure environment for participants by aligning with Reynolds School District, Portland Public School District, and Latino Network policyWork with students needing behavioral supportAttend and complete trainings required for positionRequirementsSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCETraining and a minimum of two years’ experience in the field of education, social services or related human service industryAbility to communicate directly and effectively both orally and in writing, in both English and SpanishCultural connections to and lived experience within communities of colorLived experience that reflects that of the students and families to be served in the school communityPositive behavior management and communication skillsHas the ability to engage a broad spectrum of community members in Latino Network programs and activitiesWell-versed in Google docs and Microsoft Suite, especially Google sheets and excel for data trackingMust be able to take initiative and be organized, responsible, and accountableHave the ability to multi-task, maintain composure, and communicate respectfully and effectively in a fast-paced environment.Ability and willingness to work as a team member and support the mission and goals of Latino Network.Maintain a positive attitude and approach to colleagues, supervisors, staff and familiesAble to address any concerns directly with involved parties and avoid gossipAdditional Administrative And Physical RequirementsRegularly work in the school and in the community as needed.Evening and weekend availability may be required.Work hours are flexible to accommodate program implementation; long hours during peak periods.Must have reliable transportation to the school site and for tasks needed for its programs.May require heavy lifting and walking during events and outreach activities.All staff are required to undergo and pass a criminal background check including fingerprinting and obtain a school district badge before starting work.WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather), and extreme heat (non-weather). This position requires frequent computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
