POSITION: PROFESSIONAL CIVIL ENGINEERSTATUS: Full TimeSTARTING PAY: Salary commensurate with experience level.HOURS: Monday through Thursday, nine-hour days, and Friday, four-hour day; Additional hours may be required based on project needsLOCATION: Baton Rouge, LouisianaProfessional Civil Engineer in the Transportation Engineering Division; focused on continuing career as a technical expert and/or project manager for Road Projects. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who can meet the challenges defined by our clients and continuously develop himself or herself on a career level.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:BS Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum. Advanced degree a plusRegistration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of LouisianaMinimum of 5 years of qualifying experience after licensure as a Professional EngineerStrong background in advanced computer softwareExperience with LADOTD, or similar agency, requirements and standards pertaining to roadway and bridge projectsKnowledge and understanding of applicable design codes and clients standardsAbility to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variablesRoad design experiences with Louisiana DOTD preferredDesign experiences with storm water drainage and HEC RAS preferredExperience with Microstation, preferredExperience with Inroads, preferredTYPICAL DUTIES:Duties include, but are not limited to providing engineering and technical support within the Transportation Department through services such as project development, detailed project design, calculation and proposal development, opinion of cost, and technical engineering and inspection for a variety of road projects. Specific examples include:Utilizing engineering and CADD software to oversee and/or provide designs for road, drainage and other civil project plans and specificationsInterpreting electronic surveys to incorporate into plansProject management for all phases of design work from inception to final acceptanceManaging projects to ensure efficient personnel utilization and on-time deliveryAssist in the review of roadway calculations and plan submittals, shop drawing submittals, contractor proposals, requests for information, change orders, etc.Performing project cost estimatingDevelop project engineering fees and negotiate engineering contract scope of work performing QA/QC reviews of design activities of design team membersParticipate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goalsAssist in any duties required to deliver a quality product on schedule and within budgetAssist/support proposal developmentBENEFITS:Health InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceHealth Savings AccountsLife and AD&D InsuranceDisability Insurance401(k)Supplemental InsurancePaid Time OffSick TimeG.E.C., Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
