Internship Opportunity Under close supervision, the Intern performs a variety of entry-level clerical, office support, records management, and logistical support duties to assist with the investigative services provided by the company. The intern will gain practical experience supporting investigations in a professional environment. About Palicon Group Palicon Group is a Southern California based firm specializing in workplace investigations, security, and public safety consulting. Job Summary Intern $16.90 hourly This is an entry-level internship position with Palicon Group, a security, investigations, and public safety consulting company. The intern must have basic knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, internet software, and calendar apps. The intern is responsible for performing simple office clerical and administrative support functions related to investigations under close supervision to learn company policies and procedures. The assigned work allows the intern to develop judgment in selecting appropriate procedures and solving routine problems in an investigative context. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Operates a computer and standard business software; performs data entry, accesses, and retrieves investigative data; updates assigned computer records; generates basic notices, forms, reports, and other documents related to investigations. Types, formats, prints, and distributes correspondence, memoranda, forms, reports, and other documents pertaining to investigative services; collects and compiles data from various sources. Opens, screens, sorts, and distributes incoming mail and documents related to investigations; sends and receives faxes and prepares regular mailings. Operates a multi-line telephone system to receive, screen, and route calls; greets and directs visitors; performs routine scheduling duties and drafts emails in support of investigative activities. Assists with general accounting duties related to investigations; works with vendors to reconcile invoices; verifies daily deposits and manages receipts. Prepares, updates, organizes, and maintains investigative records and files; locates, retrieves, and distributes copies of reports and documents as requested. Assists with financial record keeping duties for investigations; reviews and processes vendor invoices; prepares billing and processes payments; issues receipts and prepares deposits. Maintains and submits personnel and payroll records; updates job announcements and employment documents; responds to routine human resources or payroll inquiries or refers more complex inquiries to appropriate staff. Compiles statistics related to investigations; processes various documents and records. Maintains assigned work areas and equipment; completes work orders for repairs; provides troubleshooting assistance on standard office equipment used in investigations. Performs other duties as assigned to gain experience and assist with investigative services. Job Requirements Knowledge of Basic office administration practices and procedures. Principles of business communication; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Basic understanding of company organization, functions, rules, and procedures related to investigations. Uses and operations of a computer and standard business software. Basic filing and record keeping practices for investigative documents. Basic customer service principles. Skill in Operating a computer using MS Office and other standard business software. Operating standard office equipment. Typing accurately. Organizing and prioritizing work related to investigations. Interpreting and following company policies and procedures for investigations. Organizing and maintaining investigative files. Composing basic correspondence from instructions. Communicating clearly and effectively, orally and in writing. Understanding and following instructions. Preparing clear, concise, and accurate investigative documents and records. Using tact and courtesy when interacting with others. Establishing effective working relationships. Providing customer service in an investigative context. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Current enrollment in an accredited college or university with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Investigations, or a related field. Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment: None. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Interns work under typical office conditions, and the noise level is usually quiet. While performing the duties of this job, interns are regularly required to sit, talk, or hear, in person or by telephone, use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate computers and other standard office equipment, and reach with hands and arms. Interns are frequently required to walk, stand, and lift up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
