Lead Server AdministratorJob Type: Full-Time | Location: Hybrid (Dearborn, MI)Optomi, in partnership with a leading enterprise organization, is seeking a Lead Server Administrator to support and modernize a hybrid Windows infrastructure environment across on-premises and Azure-based systems. This is a highly visible senior-level infrastructure role focused on VMware, Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Azure IaaS, monitoring, automation, and enterprise platform reliability.The ideal candidate is a hands-on infrastructure leader who thrives in complex enterprise environments, can independently solve technical challenges, and is comfortable operating as the primary escalation point for server, virtualization, and hybrid infrastructure initiatives.What the Right Candidate will Enjoy:Leading modernization initiatives across a large-scale Windows and VMware environment! Joining a flexible, culture-driven environment that values initiative and technical ownership! Experience of the Right Candidate:8+ years of enterprise Windows Server administration experience. Strong expertise with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, or Hyper-V environments. Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments with exposure to Azure IaaS services. Deep knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and hybrid identity environments. Experience administering IIS, Windows Server patching, backup/recovery platforms, and infrastructure monitoring tools. Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience. Experience supporting enterprise backup and disaster recovery operations (Veeam preferred). Familiarity with Azure services such as Virtual Machines, VNets, NSGs, Azure Storage, Azure Site Recovery, or Azure AD. Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, virtualization, networking, and server operations. Experience mentoring junior team members and leading infrastructure initiatives. Microsoft certifications (AZ-104, AZ-800, MCSA/MCSE) are a plus. Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:Administer and maintain enterprise Windows Server environments across on-prem and Azure infrastructure. Manage VMware virtualization environments including ESXi hosts, vCenter, clustering, snapshots, and lifecycle management. Support Active Directory services including GPOs, DNS, DHCP, replication, and hybrid identity integrations. Maintain IIS web servers, SSL/TLS certificates, application pools, and web application infrastructure. Support enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes including test restores and DR validation. Configure and maintain Azure IaaS resources and hybrid connectivity solutions. Develop PowerShell automation for provisioning, compliance reporting, patching, and operational efficiency. Manage infrastructure monitoring, observability, and centralized logging platforms. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure incidents and serve as a senior escalation point for server-related issues. Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and infrastructure standards. Collaborate with security, development, and operations teams on enterprise infrastructure initiatives. Drive infrastructure modernization and continuous improvement efforts across the environment.
