Spotlight is currently working with a client who is a national leader in clean energy. They are seeking a Lead M&S/FEA Engineer to conduct structural and thermal impact analyses of enclosures and components under various stress, loading conditions, and heat rejection scenarios for electronic components. This role can be located in Phoenix, AZ, Nashville, TN, Boise, ID and Menasha, WI.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop physics-based modeling and simulation environment for a variety of electrical, thermal, and mechanical systems for distributed energy resources and power distributionDevelop FEA or CFD simulations of critical components and structures to optimize robustness, cost, and guide product manufacturingConduct product architecture trade studies and optimization to ensure maximized performance and minimal costsIntegrate cost, weight, and specification data of components, systems, and renewable energy fuels into simulation models for technoeconomic analysis of architecture optionsCollaborate with subject matter experts to characterize components and systems in a simulation environment and communicate analysis resultsUtilize DOE, optimization methods, and data driven modeling and analysis toolsUse models and simulation platforms to verify and validate controls softwarePerforms other related duties as required and assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalentExperience: 6 months related work experience or academic/internship experience with multi-physics modeling (e.g., Simulink, Simscape, Simcenter Amesim, GT-Suite), CFD (e.g., Fluent), or FEA tools (e.g., Ansys, Abaqus, COMSOL); familiarity with renewable energy systems and power distribution concepts preferredorEducation: Advanced degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated simulation experienceExperience: Experience with ML models, controls software verification (SIL/MIL/HIL), system simulation (CFD/FEA), control systems (BMS, thermal, energy management), and version control tools (e.g., Git) preferred
