This position is based at our Bolivar, Ohio manufacturing facility. The Quality Control Specialist assists with day-to-day product and process quality activities by performing routine inspections, verifying records, and following established quality procedures. The role helps identify potential quality issues, escalates concerns appropriately, and supports corrective and continuous improvement efforts.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform routine inspections or testing of incoming materials, in-process items, and finished products according to established procedures and quality standardsIdentify, segregate, and report nonconforming or defective materials to appropriate personnelAccurately document inspection results, findings and quality data in logs, forms or electronic systemsFollow standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety guidelines at all timesAssist with basic investigations by gathering information and supporting root cause analysis activitiesCommunicate quality issues clearly to supervisors, Quality team members, and production staffMaintain a clean, organized inspection and work area in compliance with company and safety requirementsParticipate in training related to quality procedures, inspection methods and compliance expectationsSupport quality audits and inspections by preparing records and responding to requests for informationAdhere to company policies, quality objectives, and continuous improvement initiativesAssist with or perform special projects on analytical and instrument problem solving including instrument and process validationAssist quality technician with preparation of formulas, mixtures and dilutionsRevises and updates SOPs or work instructions as neededConducting inspections and audits at various stages of production to identify defects or deviationsDemonstrates continuous learning and skill development to support advancement within the Quality organizationPerforms other duties as requiredQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required, associate degree or technical training in quality, manufacturing, or a related field preferred1-3 years of experience in quality, manufacturing or a related environment preferredAbility to follow written procedures, work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs)Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects, damage, or nonconforming materialAbility to use basic measuring and inspection tools (e.g. gauges, scales, thermometers)Ability to read, write and speak the English language (bilingual is a plus)Basic math skills for counts, measurements and comparisonsEffective verbal and written communication skills for communicating quality issuesPhysical ability to stand, walk, bend and lift up to 50 lbs. as required for inspectionsDependable, punctual, and committed to following safety and quality policiesWillingness and ability to learn inspection techniques and quality processes through on-the-job trainingAbility to accurately record inspection results and complete quality-related documentationBasic understanding of quality control concepts and the importance of product quality and complianceUnderstand science-based principles, formulas and specificationsAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamAbility to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environmentSelf-motivated, possesses initiative and able to work productively with minimal supervision and directionFamiliarity with basic computer use, including data entry and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word)Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in production or warehouse environmentBased on individual states' employment laws, the salary range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00 per hour. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each candidate, including experience and location.
