Controller
Client is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Controller to oversee and tighten all financial operations across the company and active construction projects.This individual will play a key leadership role in managing company cashflow, controlling project costs, improving financial organization, and increasing overall profitability and efficiency.The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction financial management and understand the fast-paced nature of high-end residential construction projects.This role requires someone who can stay ahead of financial obligations, identify inefficiencies, and create systems that allow ownership and project managers to clearly understand the financial health of each project and the company as a whole.Key Responsibilities: Manage and oversee all company cashflow, including weekly and monthly forecasting, incoming receivables, outgoing payments, payroll obligations, and projected financial commitmentsStrategically schedule and prioritize payments to vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants based on current and projected cashflowCreate and maintain accurate financial reporting systems that provide clear visibility into project budgets, spending, profitability, and company financial performanceTrack all project-related material purchases and subcontractor costs against original contract budgets and estimating spreadsheets to ensure projects remain financially on trackAnalyze estimated versus actual project costs and identify areas where projects are over budget, underperforming, or losing profitabilityWork closely with ownership, estimators, and project managers to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve overall project financial efficiencyReview labor and payroll costs weekly to monitor manpower efficiency, project staffing levels, and overall labor burden across all active projectsAssist management in making informed decisions regarding hiring, layoffs, overtime, and redistribution of manpower based on workload, project schedules, and payroll trends Implement tighter financial controls, approval systems, and tracking procedures to improve accountability and reduce unnecessary spendingCoordinate with bookkeeping and accounting teams to ensure invoices, payroll, taxes, subcontractor payments, and reporting are completed accurately and on timeHelp improve operational systems, reporting methods, and financial organization throughout the companyQualifications: Strong background in construction accounting, financial management, or controller-level operationsExperience tracking project budgets, job costing, payroll, and cashflow forecasting within the construction industryHigh level of organization, accountability, and attention to detailStrong understanding of cost control and operational efficiencyAbility to communicate clearly with ownership, project managers, subcontractors, and accounting teamsAdvanced spreadsheet and financial reporting skills preferredExperience with construction management and accounting software is a plusWork Location: Hybrid remote for a business in Mahopac, NY 10541
