Behavioral crisis intervention specialist
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of 15 semester (24 quarter) units of coursework from an accredited college in Psychology, Sociology, Social Welfare, Social/Human Services, or other Behavioral Sciences or any combination
Experience: One year of full-time experience performing client directed services in either a social service, health care, or mental health agency/organization.
Other: Possession of a valid State driver’s license. Attainment of at least 21 years of age.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under direct supervision, team with clinicians in planning and providing mental health services, such as general counseling, case management, and therapeutic behavior services. Perform other work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1) Interview individuals and/or families to team with mental health professionals in determining the needs of individuals or groups. Initials: _____
2) Counsel individuals and/or groups to develop social adjustment skills and to increase consumer resolution of identified problems. Initials: _____
3) Visit service recipients, individually or as part of a team, in a variety of living situations to help assess the mental health needs of individuals and families and/or provide behavioral coaching for children and parents. Gather data from individual/family interviews, past records, other information, to gain understanding and verification of previous disorders and treatment episodes. Initials: _____
4) May act as a liaison between New Life and other agencies, department, organizations, and community groups. Initials: _____
5) Must be available to board flights with minors during weekdays and weekends if advanced notice of at least 24 hours is given. Initials: _____
