Job DescriptionOrthopedic Spine Surgeon (MD/DO)Must be legally licensed to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or Minnesota, depending on the location of the practice to which you are assignedPosition SummaryThe Orthopedic Spine Surgeon provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for patients with disorders of the spine. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, operative and perioperative management of spinal conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and manage patients with spinal disorders including degenerative disease, trauma, deformity, tumors, and infectionsDiagnose and treat conditions such as spinal stenosis, disc herniation, spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, and spinal instabilityPerform spine surgical procedures consistent with training and privileges, including minimally invasive and complex reconstructive techniquesProvide non-operative spine care including injections, bracing, and rehabilitation planning as appropriateManage perioperative and postoperative care, including complications and recoveryParticipate in emergency and on-call coverage for spine-related conditionsInterpret diagnostic studies including X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and other spinal imagingCollaborate with neurosurgery, pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation, anesthesia, and physical therapyEducate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgical risks, and expected outcomesMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiativesSupervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or trainees as applicableComply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standardsQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited orthopedic surgery residency programFellowship training in spine surgeryBoard-eligible or board-certified in Orthopedic SurgeryAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibilitySkills and CompetenciesExpertise in operative and non-operative spine careStrong clinical judgment and advanced surgical skillsAbility to manage complex spinal pathology and high-acuity casesExcellent communication and patient counseling abilitiesCommitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and patient safetyWork EnvironmentHospital operating rooms, outpatient clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and inpatient unitsCall coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays as requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods during surgical proceduresManual dexterity and physical stamina for complex operative casesVisual and auditory acuity sufficient for operative and clinical care
