Data Engineer

Contract | Long Beach, CA (On-site) | $70–$80/hour About the Role Suguitan Financial Systems is a boutique consultancy specializing in application development within the financial services space. We partner closely with our clients to build high quality software that solves real business problems for our clients and their users. We are looking for a Data Engineer to work directly with a banking client as part of an engineering team led by Suguitan Financial Systems. This role is ideal for an early to mid career engineer who is eager to grow their technical skills, work directly with experienced mentors, and gain exposure to modern data engineering practices in a professional environment. The ideal candidate is eager to improve, takes ownership of their work, and is excited to learn the technical and professional skills required to build high quality data pipelines and infrastructure. You will work directly with experienced engineers in a small, collaborative environment where mentorship and professional growth are a core part of the role. Responsibilities Partner with product managers and engineers to plan and implement data pipelines and infrastructure Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using tools such as Dagster or Airflow Work with technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, MSSQL or PostgreSQL, Python, and dbt Review peer code, apply feedback from teammates, and help maintain and raise engineering standards Qualifications 2–6 years of professional data engineering experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, or another modern cloud data platform Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Dagster or Airflow Proficiency with SQL (MSSQL or PostgreSQL) and Python Understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT pipeline design, and data quality best practices Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly Experience with dbt is a plus Original Link: https://suguitanfs.com/careers/data-engineer-7c2e91 Pay: $70.00 - $80.00 per hour Ability to Relocate: Seal Beach, CA 90740: Relocate before starting work (Preferred) Work Location: In person
