Determines the severity of the patients complaint; directs thecaller to the appropriate emergency services if necessary;recommends the suggested medical follow-up based on theirassessments and established triage protocols, and provides healthinformation. Coordinates referrals with physicians, specialists and ancillaryservices on behalf of patients when needed. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Assists in the development and documentation of protocols related tohis or her job functions.Working Conditions:** Medical office environment. Ability to sitand/or stand for long periods of time. Bending, stooping, and lifting(up to 50lbs.) may be required. Interaction with physicians, patientsand other office personnel. May involve contact with angry, upset or illpersons. May involve potential exposure to blood and body fluids andother hazardous substances. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterityto interface with computer.
