Accounts Payable Specialist River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Empire Valley, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY.The Accounts Payable Specialist is a key member of the accounting team who collaborates with vendors and internal departments in order to ensure timely and accurate payments, categorization and reconciliation of invoices. This position offers the opportunity to use strengths in Accounting, organization, time management, administrative precision, prioritization, and effective communication to work collaboratively as a member of a cohesive, successful, goal orientated team.This is a full-time on-site position: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm$21.00 - $23.00 per hourReview and match all vendor invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to paymentReconcile price/quantity variances to ensure all invoices and purchase orders are properly accountedReview, reconcile and assign g/l chart of accounts allocation for all department overhead expense workflowWork with department managers on expense purchases and approval processPartner with vendors, warehouse, and department managers on applicable research on invoice and purchase order inquiriesAssist with month end closing process thru accrual tracking, a/p aging review, and other tasks as appropriateMaintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practicesOther office and/or accounting duties may be assigned as business needs require, and as opportunities occur in a hands-on, interactive department settingProficient in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel, with 10-key punch requiredExperience in Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) a plusHigh level of confidentiality and integrityExcellent Communication Skills verbal and writtenAbility to work independentlyStrong organizational, multi-tasking and interpersonal skillsThree years of previous experience in Accounts Payable is desiredProven track record with understanding of A/P and Accounting workflowEffective communication skills, ability to relay a friendly, helpful and professional message in telephone and inter-personal activitiesAbility to maintain strong accuracy and attention to detail in fast-paced, high volume environmentWe offer a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes:Flexible Paid Time OffCompany paid holidaysHealth, prescription, and dental insuranceLife and disability insuranceSupplemental insurances401 (k) with company matchEmployee assistant programEmployee purchase programRiver Valley Holdings is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE)
