Medical Billing Specialist (Physical Therapy) Remote (US Only)
Key ResponsibilitiesReview medical documentation and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codesPrepare, submit, and track electronic and paper insurance claimsMonitor and follow up on outstanding claims, denials, and appeals to ensure timely reimbursementIdentify and resolve billing discrepancies in collaboration with providers and internal teamsVerify patient insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations when requiredManage daily billing operations for assigned PT clinic accounts, ensuring accuracy and completenessOversee claim processing workflows including rejections, denials, payment posting, and patient statementsPerform quality assurance checks on billing outputs and correct errors as neededCommunicate regularly with clinic clients to address concerns and maintain high satisfactionAct as a liaison between clients and internal billing teams to resolve issues efficientlyPartner with onboarding teams to ensure seamless client setup and uninterrupted cash flowAnalyze billing reports to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvementDevelop and maintain internal SOPs, workflows, and training materialsTrain and support team members on billing best practices and client communicationStay current on industry regulations, payer requirements, and coding updatesProvide feedback and recommendations to leadership and product teams for process improvementsQualificationsMinimum 2+ years of medical billing experience (35 years preferred, especially in Physical Therapy)Experience working within a billing service or multi-client environment strongly preferredProficiency in CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systemsStrong understanding of insurance guidelines, reimbursement processes, and denial managementHands-on experience with EHR systems and billing softwareProven ability to manage rejections, denials, and aging accountsExperience communicating directly with healthcare providers or clinic clientsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsHigh attention to detail with a commitment to accuracyAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote environmentCertified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification is a plusEducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredCertification in Medical Billing and Coding preferredWhat You Bring to the TeamA proactive, solutions-oriented mindsetStrong communication and client relationship skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentCommitment to delivering high-quality, accurate workA team-first attitude with a focus on continuous improvementEqual Opportunity EmployerHENO is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.
