POSITION OVERVIEW Snip Happens is seeking compassionate, high-performing veterinary professionals to join our high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter (HQHVSN) team. This role is ideal for individuals with at least one year of experience in shelter medicine or high-volume surgical environments or a degree in veterinary technology or shelter medicine-related fields. This position demands exceptional multitasking, leadership, and communication skills, and a passion for helping both animals and people. Team members must be confident with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments, capable of performing in a fast-paced surgical environment, and open to continuous learning and growth. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 1 year experience working as a veterinary technician in an animal shelter, high-volume clinic, or HQHVSN setting or a relevant veterinary/shelter medicine degree. Skilled in giving injections, drawing blood, and operating anesthesia machines. Physically able to work long, active days (standing, lifting, kneeling, reaching, etc.). Strong organizational skills and ability to take initiative in a leadership role when needed. Comfortable working with fearful, fractious, or stressed animals using Fear Free handling techniques. Able to communicate clearly and empathetically with clients, teammates, and management. Passionate about community care, lifesaving veterinary work, and accessible pet services. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare patients for surgery (shaving, prepping, administering pre-anesthetic medications). Monitor vitals during induction, surgery, and recovery. Safely administer vaccines, medications, and post-operative treatments. Assist with anesthesia, surgical support, and recovery care. Educate clients with compassion about post-op care and general animal wellness. Accurately complete medical records using digital platforms. Support diagnostic efforts including blood draws and sample prep. Maintain sterile environments and follow all safety and SOP protocols. Restock supplies, manage laundry, and clean surgical and treatment areas. Support a Fear Free environment for patients, people, and peers. Participate in ongoing training and mentorship of new team members.
