Job SummaryPerforms diagnostic cardiovascular examinations per physician orders and according to department protocols. Generates preliminary reports for physician interpretation. Reviews physician reports, charts and charges procedures electronically. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care. Effectively interacts with patient and significant others, while maintaining professional standards. Interacts with Cardiologists and referring physicians according to applicable departmental policies regarding critical findings. Exhibits excellent critical thinking skills. Interacts with managers to discuss significant findings, clinical situations, workflow status and equipment malfunctions. Often works without direct supervision and must have outstanding work ethics and integrity. Must be registered in both Adult Cardiac and Vascular Sonography by ARDMS or CCI. Must acquire CMEs as required by professional registries.Job RequirementsMinimum EducationGraduate of accredited Ultrasound program OR documented clinical echo/vascular experienceMinimum Work ExperienceCompletion of supervised clinical scanning rotation, no prior work experience requiredRequired Licenses/CertificationsRequires 2 ultrasound registry credentialsRDCS or RCS in adult echo and RVT or RVS in vascular ultrasound (or one of these in combination with another ultrasound registry, i.e. pediatric echo, general - with manager approval)New graduates may work temporarily but must obtain credentials within one year of hireCPR certificationSupervisory skills including ability to teach and trainRequired Skills, Knowledge, And AbilitiesMaintains professional appearance at all timesAbility to handle confidential informationPerform all diagnostic cardiovascular procedures that are available in Non-Invasive CardiologyMaster use of all equipment including ultrasound systems, PVR, BP monitors and computer systemsAttends required training programs and staff meetings and completes computer-based learning lessonsDesignated DriverNoOSHA Category1 - High Risk
