Business Development Manager – Custom Solutions (Outside Sales)Genereux has been built through relationships and reputation in the custom fixtures and displays business. We operate in a well defined market with a strong foundation and the next phase of growth requires someone who can take ownership of new business development and turn it into a consistent, scalable pipeline of customers in Minnesota, and eventually, beyond.You won’t inherit a book of business. You’ll build it—and earn the opportunity to take on more of the sales function as you prove it worksThe role will involve a mix of outbound prospecting and in-person meetings with customers and prospects.This hybrid position is for a salesperson who doesn’t wait for leads, doesn’t rely on marketing, and wants to prove they can create real opportunities in a competitive market.You must have prior success:Selling into small to mid-sized businesses where you’re reaching decision-makers like owners, directors, or project managers. You’re comfortable prospecting into companies that may not be actively looking and know how to create interest through relevant conversations.You’ve succeeded in environments where:You had to build your own pipelineCompetition was real and price matteredYou need to understand how products are designed, built, or installedThe role:This role starts with business development: prospecting, qualifying, and opening new opportunities. You’ll be expected to generate your own leads, network consistently, and build a 30/60/90-day pipeline.This is not a sit-back-and-wait role. The hard part is getting in front of the right people in a competitive market and qualifying whether the opportunity is worth pursuing.You won’t close deals immediately. As you prove your ability to generate and qualify strong opportunities, you’ll take on more of the sales process over time.You must:Have strong hunting instincts and be comfortable prospecting dailyBe able to reach and engage product leaders, project managers, and decision-makersWork independently and stay disciplined with activity and follow-upBe consultative and ask the right questions and qualify effectivelyBe comfortable with basic measurements and reading blueprintsYou will be selling custom-built products into a moderately competitive market, with sales cycles typically 2–3 months or longer. Success comes from consistency, curiosity, and the ability to identify real opportunities.
