General Job Description: Wisconsin Heavy Fabrication Location: Manitowoc, WI Title: Industrial Painter Position Overview Wisconsin Heavy Fabrication is seeking a skilled Industrial Painter to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing a wide range of heavy-fabricated metal components used in industrial applications. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of industrial coating systems, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare metal surfaces for painting by cleaning, grinding, sanding, masking, and applying appropriate surface treatments. Mix and apply various industrial coatings including primers, epoxies, urethanes, and specialty finishes according to specifications. Operate spray guns, paint booths, pressure pots, and related painting equipment. Inspect surfaces and finished parts to ensure proper coverage, thickness, color match, and overall quality. Follow job travelers, blueprints, and work instructions to meet customer and company standards. Perform touch-ups, rework, and corrective painting as needed. Maintain painting equipment, tools, and spray systems to ensure proper operation and longevity. Adhere to all OSHA and company safety regulations, including PPE use, ventilation, and safe handling of chemicals. Maintain clean, organized work areas and properly store paints, solvents, and hazardous materials. Communicate with supervisors and team members to ensure efficient workflow and meet production schedules. Specific Qualifications: Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 2+ years of experience in industrial, automotive, or heavy-equipment painting preferred. Knowledge of paint mixing ratios, coating systems, and proper spray techniques. Ability to read and follow work orders, technical specifications, and blueprints. Familiarity with wet film thickness gauges, mil gauges, and quality inspection tools. Ability to stand, lift, bend, and work in various positions throughout the shift. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work Environment Full-time manufacturing environment with exposure to paints, solvents, fumes, and noise. Requires use of respirators, protective clothing, gloves, and other PPE.
