Senior Account Executive

Position OverviewMy client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Account Executive with a strong background in handbags, backpacks, and soft goods. This role will be responsible for managing and growing key accounts across major department stores and off-price retailers. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the accessories market, established retail relationships, and a proven track record of driving sales and profitability.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and grow sales within key accounts, including major department stores and off-price retailers (e.g., Macy’s, Nordstrom, TJX, Ross, Burlington, etc.)Develop and execute seasonal sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targetsBuild and maintain strong relationships with buyers, planners, and merchandising teamsLead the end-to-end sales process including product presentations, pricing negotiations, and order executionCollaborate cross-functionally with design, merchandising, and production teams to align assortment with customer needsAnalyze sales performance, market trends, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunitiesDrive product assortment strategy by account, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and retail partner requirementsMonitor inventory levels, reorders, and sell-through to maximize business performancePartner with operations/logistics to ensure timely delivery and fulfillmentRepresent the company at key market appointments, trade shows, and client meetingsQualifications7+ years of experience in sales or account management within handbags, backpacks, or soft goodsProven experience managing major department store and off-price accountsStrong existing relationships within the retail channel is highly preferredDemonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets and grow accountsExcellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skillsStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and trendsHighly organized with strong attention to detailAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentProficiency in Microsoft Excel and sales/order management systemsKey CompetenciesStrategic account managementRelationship building & client serviceSales forecasting & planningProduct and market expertise (handbags/soft goods)Negotiation & closing skillsCross-functional collaborationEducationBachelor’s degree preferred (Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or related field)
