JOB SUMMARYThe Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. May be assigned to specific medical specialty department (e.g., orthopedics).JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum EducationHigh school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting. If not yet a CMA you will receive all hours required for the CMA exam. Hendrick Clinic will cover the fee for the first exam.Minimum Work ExperienceMinimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience.Required Licenses/CertificationsCertified Medical Assistant within 26 months of hireMust possess a current CPR certificationRequired Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesKnowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/proceduresKnowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practiceKnowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and familiesSkill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriatelySkill intact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactionsSkill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and familiesAbility to learn and retain information regarding patient care proceduresAbility to project a pleasant and professional imageAbility to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasksAbility to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
