Security Engineer IIPay Range: $50/hour to $54/hour SummaryThe Security Engineer II provides operational, administrative, and project support for the Information Security team. This role is responsible for helping ensure the integrity of information system assets and protecting systems from unauthorized access, misuse, or destruction. Responsibilities span network and system security, security solutions, incident response, monitoring, reporting, and general IT security practices. The role also provides escalation support to senior engineers for complex security issues.Key ResponsibilitiesImplement and monitor security measures to protect computer systems, networks, and organizational dataDesign and maintain cybersecurity processes, including Incident Response, Eradication, Recovery, and Lessons LearnedDetect, respond to, mitigate, report on, remediate, and recover from security incidentsPerform technical analysis, installation, maintenance, and modification of security systems and softwareMonitor, analyze, and report on the performance and effectiveness of security systemsParticipate in security solution implementations and incident response effortsAssist in developing security policies, standards, procedures, and documentationIdentify and define system security requirementsConfigure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devicesDevelop technical solutions and security tools to mitigate vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasksCollaborate with other IT and Information Security teams on incidents, remediation, and security initiativesPrepare reports documenting security incidents and the impact of breachesRecommend security enhancements, strategies, and improvements to management or senior IT staffProvide after-hours and weekend support as part of a 24x7 incident response modelEnsure minimal disruption to business operations during security incidentsPerform other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsEducationAssociate’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the role successfullyExperienceMinimum 5 years of experience in general Information SecurityExperience in a healthcare or regulated environmentExperience with PCI, HIPAA, and NIST frameworksProven experience as a System Security Engineer or Information Security EngineerHands-on experience working with and maintaining security systemsUnderstanding of security control concepts: physical, logical, and administrativeKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesIn-depth technical knowledge of operating system securityHands-on experience with security technologies such as:Intrusion detection/prevention systemsAnti-virus and endpoint protectionAuthentication systemsLog management and SIEM toolsContent filtering solutionsStrong knowledge of network security and networking technologiesExperience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting security tools and infrastructureStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
