Assistant/ Associate Designer - Home Textiles

Our client, a Home Decor & Textile Company, is seeking a Associate Designer to join their team in Matawan, New Jersey! This is a full-time hour contract role.Responsibilities:Create seasonal mood and trend boards in collaboration with the Design DirectorDesign and development of original, trend-driven and brand-appropriate collections for all top-of-bed product categories, and surface print collections for Throws, Blankets, Sheets, Shower Curtains, Quilts and Comforters.Develop accurate artwork, print repeats, and specs using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesignTranslate seasonal concept direction into innovative and commercially compelling design assortmentsPrepare design files for sampling and productionCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product execution matches design intentSupport product revisions, costing updates, and presentation materialsMeet with retail buyers as needed to present and discuss designsCollaborate closely with Product Development to source unique materials, trims, and surface techniquesWork proactively within the product development calendar to ensure all deliverables are met ahead of deadlinesProvide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, sharing industry best practices in terms of design processes, tech pack development, and pattern library managementQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design, Apparel Design, Fashion Design, or related field2-3 + years design experience in home or fashion/apparelProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)Deep understanding of textile construction, fabrications, surface design, and printing/manufacturing techniquesSkilled in both hand-drawing and digital illustration, with the ability to create original artwork whilst effectively curating from existing libraryExperience collaborating directly with overseas factoriesPlease submit your Resume & Portfolio to apply!You can use www.workgrades.com to collect and manage your references for free and share them with us or anyone else you choose.
