Heavy Equipment Operator- Traveling
Position SummaryThe traveling Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating a variety of mobile heavy equipment used in mining operations. Equipment may include haul trucks, loaders, excavators, water trucks, dozers, graders, and other production support machinery. Operators play a critical role in maintaining production goals while adhering to strict safety and operational standards.Key Responsibilities Operate heavy mobile equipment in a safe, efficient, and productive manner Perform pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections and complete required documentation Identify and report mechanical issues or unsafe conditions promptly Follow mine site safety procedures, policies, and MSHA regulations at all times Work closely with supervisors, dispatch, and other team members to meet daily production targets Maintain clean and orderly equipment cabs and work areas Assist with general mine site tasks as needed to support operations Qualifications Previous experience operating heavy equipment in mining, quarry, construction, or similar industrial environments preferred Ability to safely operate one or more types of mobile equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, excavators, or dozers MSHA certification preferred (or willingness to obtain if required) Strong understanding of equipment safety protocols and hazard awareness Ability to work in varying weather and site conditions Reliable transportation and strong attendance record Ability to work day shift, night shift, weekends, and overtime as needed Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, and walk for extended periods Ability to climb in and out of heavy equipment multiple times per shift Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally Must be able to work in dusty, rugged outdoor environments
