Advanced Academics Coordinator
Primary Purpose: Provide support and assistance to the Executive Director of College Readiness to implement and support advanced academics at the middle school, junior high, and high school level. RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Responsibilities and DutiesParticipate and present at state and national levels pertaining to Advanced Academics and College Readiness.Expand learning, opportunity, and preparation toward students having a more successful high-school and post-high school experience.Attend and participate in District Advanced Academics events, such as program recruitment events, program orientation sessions, and specialized instruction/pullout/courses/electives.Responsible for program development, implementation, and expansion.Monitor and evaluate advanced academics instructional programs on an ongoing basis to assure that high school students are on track to or have already met an advanced academics College Readiness indicator.Monitor and evaluate advanced studies on an ongoing basis using staff input, applied research and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes.Assists the Executive Director of Advanced Academics and College Readiness in building partnerships with entities that will support the department goals.Assists the Executive Director of Advanced Academics and College Readiness in ensuring that principals, counselors, and instructors have the necessary information and training to successfully implement Advanced Placement, Pre-AP, PAP, OnRamps, Dual Credit, and courses/electives/programs that support student in Advanced Academics Courses and enrollment.Assist in the development and/or provides opportunities for staff training designed to prepare school personnel to meet the needs of students in advanced studies programs and services.Provide professional learning for tutors, teachers, district and school staff, and support instructional leadership.Coordinate with other departments to ensure effective program implementation, coherence, and management.Collaborate with facilitators, the dual credit enrollment program directors/liaisons at the college level, high school counselors, AP Coordinators, and other CCMR staff to communicate program information, such as program testing, application processes and timelines, academic requirements, and resources available to support student achievement.Collaborate with partnering departments (RAA, Counseling, CTE, etc.) in planning, support, and implementation.Oversee necessary certification and documentation processes.Ensure that the necessary time, resources, materials, and technology is available to support the accomplishment of educational goals are available.Coordinate workshops and conference events.Ensure effective event and engagement planning and parent and stakeholder communications.Serve as the primary liaison with regional entities, state and national organizations, and entities which have MOU's/partnerships with the district.Assist the Executive Director of Advanced Academics and College Readiness in articulating the district's mission to the community and solicits its support in realizing the mission.Participate in local efforts and organizations to demonstrate the district's support of student needs and of the community.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee. EXPERIENCE: Minimum Experience:Three years of teaching, counseling, or college/career facilitator experienceSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree from an accredited university requiredMaster's degree preferredValid teaching certificateValid Texas driver's license Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to operate computer equipment and software programs and input data and create reports as needed to support advanced academics activitiesAbility to use Teams, OneNote, Word, Excel, Access, Publisher and PowerPoint to a high degree of proficiencyHas, in the judgment of the administration, demonstrated interest in and ability to:Communicate effectively and appropriately with high school students, staff, and community membersOrganize and schedule complex tasks and events; and follow verbal and written directionsAbility to multi-task effectively in a busy work environmentHas, in the judgment of the administration, demonstrated aptitude and competency for assigned responsibilitiesEffective communication, public relations, and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines, and procedures relating to Advanced AcademicsWorking knowledge of the Texas Education Agency College Readiness IndicatorsKnowledge of Advanced Academics secondary opportunities and programsKnowledge of secondary course requirements for assuring that students are on their identified track for collegeKnowledge of College Readiness components related to Advanced Academics and ability to help students achieve College ReadinessSkill in interpreting data and reports, and using the analysis for increasing student enrollment, participation, and graduation ratesKnowledgeable of best practices in curriculum design, instructional delivery, and assessments; supporting high quality-instruction that bolsters rigor across all classrooms OTHER INFORMATION: Working Conditions Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Sitting, driving, travel (frequent district wide and occasional statewide), inside, frequent prolonged or irregular hours.
