Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack
Overview:
As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer on Realtor.com's News & Insights team, you shape the high-traffic content platform that serves millions of readers and publishing partners. You own backend systems while contributing to frontend features, aligning with product and editorial goals. You'll work across APIs, data flows, and AI-powered Hyperlocal experiences, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalable delivery. Responsibilities:
- Own full-stack work from design through testing, release, and production support
- Contribute to React and Next.js features, especially for features spanning frontend and backend
- Design, build, and scale backend services and APIs (Node.js/TypeScript, GraphQL, REST)
- Develop and maintain data flows, service boundaries, and performance/mantainability decisions
- Improve caching and delivery strategies (CDN, edge caching, object caching) and contribute to platform reliability
- Contribute to logging, monitoring, incident response, and production reliability
- Support automated testing and CI/CD in partnership with platform/infrastructure teams
- Collaborate with Product and editorial stakeholders; participate in design reviews, Agile ceremonies, and roadmap planning
- Contribute to Hyperlocal backend integrations and data flows for AI-powered content
- Communicate trade-offs clearly and own technical decisions across teams
Key requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend foundation and meaningful frontend experience
- Experience owning full-stack features or product areas from design through production
- Strong JavaScript or TypeScript experience; Node.js strongly preferred
- Experience with frontend features using React, Next.js or similar
- Experience designing and operating RESTful APIs, GraphQL APIs, or equivalent
- Experience with automated testing, production troubleshooting, and reliability-focused engineering
- Familiarity with cloud deployment, CI/CD, AWS, or similar platform practices
- Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
