Workforce Development CoordinatorThe Workforce Development Coordinator performs a variety of administrative tasks, including general administrative support to all the VEWFD staff and faculty. Essential duties and responsibilities include: Assisting with communication between the WFD Training Office, other departments, North Slope Borough, businesses, contractors, and community organizations. Completing and processing training requests, contracts, student registration forms, attendance sheets, business office documents, and other forms required for enrollment and timely billing. Tracking and maintaining an electronic filing system for classes, reviewing and compiling registrations, student evaluations, and expenses associated with classes. Working with the Workforce Director to provide direction and advice to students, prospective students, parents, contractors, and the general public concerning short-term training scholarships, including the application process, eligibility criteria, disbursement of aid, and responsibilities. Collaborating with Recruitment on outreach activities and recruiting events to expand the prospective student pool. Providing instructional support to WFD instructors, including ordering teaching supplies, assisting with grading, and coordinating travel logistics for village-based trainings. Working in cooperation with the Admission Officer along with other college personnel to facilitate admission and enrollment processes for Vocational Education degree programs. Maintaining communication with perspective Vocational Education students from the beginning of the admissions and registration process through program completion. Recruiting students for Workforce Development (WFD), Vocational Education, Driver's Education, and Heavy Equipment Operations (HEO) classes, ensuring all participants meet prerequisite requirements prior to enrollment. Assisting with the paperwork and coordination for contractors. Assisting in all logistics and projects required for Workforce Development trainings including proctoring. Developing applicable training reports and providing training information to appropriate requesting parties. Screening calls and scheduling appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements. Supporting WFD administrative needs including ordering and filing when needed. Maintaining a high level of confidentiality with records and information. Occasionally necessary to work outside of normally scheduled business hours. Complying with College policies, procedures, and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances. Performing other related duties as assigned. Knowledge/skills/abilities include: Demonstrated professional work experience in Industrial Safety, Workforce Development, Adult Vocational Technical, or other short-term training programs. Experience in writing and/or editing reports, contracts, and procurement. Ability to comprehend the College admissions process and student short-term training scholarship eligibility requirements. Demonstrated customer service experience: internal or external. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity software. Ability to independently follow workflow processes from start to completion. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to adjust to shifting deadlines and priorities. Good organizational and time-management skills. Attention to detail capabilities. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check. Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iupiat culture, language, values, and traditions. Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College. Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community. Ability to support I?isa?vik College's mission. Education/certificates/experience [required]: Associate degree OR substitute for 3 years of professional demonstrated administrative work experience. Minimum of three years of combined experience in the duties outlined above. Valid Alaska Driver's license or Alaska Identification Card (DMV issued). Education/certificates/training [preferred]: Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Minimum of five years demonstrated administrative work experience in a professional office environment. Valid driver's license. Physical requirements include: Sitting, standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, controls, and reach with hands and arms. Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance, and may occasionally drive a vehicle. Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Environmental conditions include: Regularly required to work indoors with a usually moderate noise level in the work environment. Benefits include: 16 paid holidays and up to 36 days of paid leave.
