Payroll Specialist (Overland Park)

Payroll Specialist / Payroll AnalystWe are seeking a detail-oriented payroll professional to support payroll operations, compliance, and process improvement initiatives within a fast-paced organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while serving as a subject matter expert for payroll-related inquiries, reporting, and operational support. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities, advanced Excel skills, and experience collaborating cross-functionally with HR, Accounting, and Legal teams.Key ResponsibilitiesManage payroll processes to ensure accurate employee payments and reportingSupport payroll tax processing, garnishments, deductions, and general payroll operations while maintaining compliance with applicable regulationsTroubleshoot payroll issues, support escalations, and provide resolution recommendationsParticipate in payroll-related projects, including testing, system updates, implementations, and process enhancementsIdentify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational standardization to improve payroll accuracy and efficiencyPartner with Human Resources, Accounting, Legal, and other internal stakeholders to address payroll concerns and ensure complianceAnalyze payroll data and reporting to support business decisions and operational improvementsMaintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee and payroll informationSupport additional projects and operational initiatives as assignedRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree and 2+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceStrong understanding of payroll operations, compliance, and reportingIntermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulasAbility to analyze large data sets and apply data-driven decision-makingStrong problem-solving and critical-thinking skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesAbility to prioritize multiple tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentExperience collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting internal stakeholdersPreferred Qualifications4+ years of progressive payroll experienceExperience with HR systems, payroll applications, reporting tools, and system integrationsProject or process management experienceCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferredAdditional SkillsStrong customer service and consulting mindsetExperience with root cause analysis and process optimizationAbility to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretionProven ability to drive operational improvements and support organizational goals
